DTU Aqua, Section for Monitoring and Data in Hirtshals is looking for a research assistant for various research-related tasks within fisheries science and technology, both on land and at sea.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The tasks will primarily consist of processing and collecting material from various research-related activities, including participation in experimental fishing trials on board research and commercial vessels, participation in monitoring cruises, as well as collecting and entering data. You are expected to participate in other tasks in the Section for Fisheries Technology and the Section for Monitoring and Data as needed.
Our expectations of you:
- Experience working with research-related activities, e.g., selectivity trials or other fisheries technology work is desired.
- Experience working with fish in the laboratory is an advantage.
- You must be prepared for diverse working hours (among other things, there may be shifts on weekends and public holidays).
- Emphasis is also placed on your written communication skills e.g., reporting of scientific results.
- The work can be physically demanding, and you should be able to accept working in sometimes difficult conditions on commercial fishing vessels.
- You are expected to be strong at sea. Possession of a health and maritime safety certificate will be an advantage, otherwise these papers must be obtained at the start of the employment period.
- That you can express yourself, both orally and in writing, in both Danish and English.
As a formal qualification, you must have a master’s degree or equivalent.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
Starting date is 1st March 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position.
